The Johnson County Seed Library.
Organic and heirloom seeds for Johnson County residents, plus the know-how to grow them, so more families can grow their own food.
From one seed donation to a community library.
In mid-2024, Seed Savers Exchange donated seeds to Johnson County, starting our partnership to collect and store seeds for local communities. The Johnson County Mountain City Library’s seed program launched in April 2025.
As the Seed Library grows, our aim is an abundant reserve that can support the region’s 18,000+ homeowners. Next, we plan to work with the University of Tennessee agricultural department on educational programs that teach children and adults to grow food for a healthier, happier life.
We’re raising funds to buy bulk seeds to stock the library before spring. Every contribution makes a difference.
